Purpose:
To provide guidelines for bringing service animals into the library.
Policy:
Service animals are allowed in the library in accordance with Federal and State law. Service animals are defined by the ADA and required to be under the control of their handler. Non-service animals are not allowed in the library. Staff may ask the following two questions of any person accompanied by a service animal:
Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
Enforcement:
Staff may ask individuals with their service animals to leave if:
the dog is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it.
the dog is not housebroken.
