In the videos below, we'll walk you through the process, from understanding license eligibility requirements to passing your driving test. Learn how to gather the necessary documents, schedule DMV appointments, and get tips on the vision, traffic sign, written knowledge, and on-the-road driving skills tests. 

The North Carolina Driver's Handbook has been updated with icons, images, and infographics to make it easier to understand. It's now available in Spanish, Arabic, Burmese, and Karen. You can read and download it online or check it out from our library.

Chapel Hill Public Library, in partnership with the Refugee Community Partnership and other Town of Chapel Hill departments, is launching a new project to help immigrants and refugees in our community get a North Carolina driver's license. We created a series of short, easy-to-follow videos and driver’s handbooks in five different languages—Burmese, Arabic, Karen, Spanish, and English. These resources explain the steps needed to apply for a license, from scheduling an appointment to passing the written and road tests. All materials are available for free on our website and will be shared with other libraries and community groups across North Carolina.
