Use your library in your language.
We’re committed to making sure everyone can use the library—no matter what language you speak.
As part of the Town of Chapel Hill, we follow the Town’s Language Access Plan.

Language services at the library
- Need help in your language while visiting the library? We can provide interpretation services. Just ask! We also identify bilingual staff who can help in different languages.
- The Town of Chapel Hill also lends interpretation equipment to community members at no cost. Learn how to borrow it here.
- We offer translated materials and programs when possible. Some library programs like Summer Reading and Winter Reading are available in the Town’s primary languages.
We’re always looking for ways to improve, have ideas or feedback? Let us know!

About the Town’s Language Access Plan
The Town of Chapel Hill’s Language Access Plan was adopted by Town Council in 2019.
The plan ensures that all residents have the right to communicate with the Town in the language they prefer.
This work began in 2018 as part of the Building Integrated Communities (BIC) Project, where local immigrant and refugee residents identified language access as a key need. The Town responded by developing a BIC Action Plan to help bridge communication gaps and improve service for everyone
