Group Visit Policy

Last Updated Date

Purpose:

Chapel Hill Public Library strives to provide equitable access to services, programs, and spaces.  To ensure that everyone can enjoy the library and its resources, we ask that groups visiting the library adhere to the following policy.

Policy:

Large group visits

Organized group visits consisting of 8 or more individuals should notify library staff of their planned visit at least 2 weeks in advance.  The library may be able to accommodate the group visit depending on staff and facility capacity.  Please fill out our Request a Visit form on the library’s website to find out if we can host your group.  Because of the high demand for school and group visits, the library is unable to provide regularly scheduled visits for specific groups or schools.

Library tours/programs

If a group would like a library tour or program, they should fill out our Request a Visit form on the library’s website.  This type of programming requires 2 weeks advance notice.  Because of high demand, the library is unable to provide regularly scheduled programs and tours and will prioritize community groups and organizations serving historically underserved populations.

Enforcement:

If a large group shows up at the library without advance notice, library staff will do their best to accommodate and will remind the group of this policy.   If the policy is violated again, library staff may ask the group to leave.
