Officially titled “The Grand Intimate,” by artist Todd Frahm, these four carved limestone statues—depicting a rabbit, tortoise, toad, and snake—are a favorite among library visitors. These animals were chosen in particular because of their frequent reference in childrens’ stories and fables, making them a fitting addition to the library grounds. Installed in 2015 after the library’s reopening, you can now visit these statues near the pollinator garden behind the library terrace. This artwork was funded through the Town of Chapel Hill’s percent for art program.
