Event Details
Join us for a lively, historian‑guided discussion of The Book Club for Troublesome Women (2025) by Marie Bostwick. Dr. Jillian M. Hinderliter will lead the conversation alongside her colleague Dr. Candice Merritt. Drawing on her expertise in American women’s history and the feminist movement of the 1960s and 1970s, Dr. Hinderliter will explore how the novel reflects themes such as the legacy of The Feminine Mystique, gender roles in postwar America, suburban life, women’s political organizing, friendship, and consumer culture. Connections that resonate both historically and today. All are welcome, whether you’ve finished the book or are simply interested in the ideas it raises. Dr. Hinderliter and Dr. Merritt are faculty members in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill.
