Chapel Hill Public Library will be closed December 24–28. We'll be open for regular hours on December 29–30. The library will close early at 6pm on December 31 and will be closed on January 1.

  • Have you been asked to record your story for an oral history, a print interview, or other media project?
  • Are you interested in or planning a public history project?
  • Does your organization own or use oral histories?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, this workshop is for you. 

Let’s talk…

  • Money: Who writes the budget? Who provides the funding? Who gets paid?
  • Consent: Who writes the agreement? Can we change our minds? If yes, when? 
  • Ownership: Who owns these stories? Who can use them? Who profits from this work?

Together, we will co-create a local practice, rooted in equity, for how we document and share the stories of our communities.
